Incheon
A gateway to Northeast Asia with both international port and international airport in its hand, Incheon is located in the mid-west Korea peninsula abutting the Yellow Sea. A city located 28km from the nation¡¯s capital, Seoul, lies at 126¡Æ 37¢¥ of east longitude and 37¡Æ 28¢¥ of north latitude. San Francisco, Washington, Madrid, and Teheran are found on the same latitude.

 

Daejeon
Daejeon is the fifth largest city among South Korea's top six cities, including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, and Gwangju. Its population is 1,390,510 and it covers an area of 539.83 km©÷ at the end of 2000. Comparing areas of the boroughs, Yuseong-gu is the largest borough of the city; the second is Dong-gu; the third is Seo-gu; the fourth is Daedeok-gu; and Jung-gu is the smallest.

 

Daegu
The City of Daegu is located inland, southeast of the Korean Peninsula. Daegu is one of the largest cities in Korea and it is a basin surrounded by mountains. The major tourist attractions include Mt. Biseulsan Provincial Park and Mt. Palgongsan Provincial Park. In Mt. Biseulsan Park, there is a plain four kilometers in diameter where the blossom of the azalea and purple eulalia offers exquisite scenery in the spring and fall.

 

Gwangju
Gwangju is the leading city of the Honam region, with the entire nation within a day's reach. The emerging importance of Korea's western coastline and the government's effort to balance growth across the nation have triggered large-scale urban development projects such as the construction of the Gwangju hi-tech industrial complex, transformation of Gwangju into a center of production, and improvement of housing and leisure facilities.

 

Busan
Busan is the second largest city in Korea. Its deep harbor and gentle tides have allowed it to grow into the largest container handling port in the country and the fifth largest in the world. In the coming years, capacity is set to grow further with the opening of the New Port. The city's natural endowments and rich history have resulted in Busan's increasing reputation as a world class city of tourism and culture, and it is also becoming renowned as an international convention destination.

 

Jeju
The island is 73km wide and 41km long with a total area of 1,848 Jeju the largest island in South Korea, came into existence 700 to 1,200 thousand years ago when lava spewed from a sub-sea volcano and surfaced above the waters. Then 100 to 300 thousand years ago, another volcanic eruption formed Mt. Halla. The final volcanic eruption that took place approximately 25 thousand years ago created the crater lake, Baekrok-dam, at the summit of the mountain.
