Location

All around of Korea.

Salary and Benefits

The salary varies from school to school but is usually from 2.0 million won to 2.3 million won or more (depends on your career and position)  Income tax ranges from 3% to 7%, which is much less than in USA and Canada.
Genernal condition of Contract  for  1 year (E-2 VISA holder can stay in Korea for a year. Contracts are for one year and can easily be renewed.)

  • Salary is between 2.0-2.4 million won or more (depends on your career and position)
  • paid vacation for 7~12days.
  • Free round trip air fare (on completion of contract)
  • Paid vacation as well as national holiday
  • Furnished single or shared accommodation
  • Overtime paid at 15,000~25,000 won per hour
  • Offer 50% for medical insurance  
  • Work visa sponsorship
  • Severance pay (one month's salary) upon completion of your contract

Airfare

Basically, a one way ticket will be provided to teachers from an international airport near your city.

Once you complete one year contract, a teacher will get a return ticket from Korea to the original point of departure.

However, in the event, the Employee fails to complete the full contract term, the employee agrees to reimburse the employer the cost of the paid airfare.

Severance pay

Once you complete oneyear contract, you will receive severance pay as one month salary.

Holidays

There are 7 – 20days of paid Korean National holidays.(Depends on Year) It will be given 7-14days extra paid vacation as school’s policy.

Housing

The school will provide a free furnished single studio apartment (Furnishings

provided by school for common use include: bed, wardrobe, television table, chairs, kitchenware,  gas range,  refrigerator,  microwave  and washing machine)
The employer will pay the rent or provide a housing allowance.
However, you are responsible for the monthly utilities such as gas and heating. Usually, the studio is within 10 to 30 minutes walking distance from your place of employment.

Working hours

Average working hours : As an ESL teacher, teach about 5~6 hours a day, Mon. ~ Fri.

Most schools require you to work 30hrs per week, from Monday to Friday.

Working hours vary a great deal from school to school. Some schools have kindergarten classes in the morning and some adults classes start in the afternoon.
Kindergarten classes run from around 9:30 am to 1pm, Elementary classes are from around 3:00pm to7:00pm and middle school/high school from around 7:00pm to 9:30pm.

Health Insurance

The teacher will have their medical benefits covered under the Korean Medical

Insurance Union. The cost of medical insurance will be split evenly between the school and the teacher. Payment will be made by deduction from the teacher's salary.

Foreigners can be covered with the NHI (National Health Insurance  Corporation)

program on a voluntary basis on the condition that they satisfy some requirements for their coverage.

The insurance benefits for foreigners are all the same as those for the Korean nationals.When the insured person or the dependents get health care services at health care facilities, just like Korean enrollees, they should pay a certain amount of co-payment for the services covered.
